Pseudepiplatys annulatus, copyright 1998 Geert van Huijgevoort.KilliFish Nederland (KFN) is a hobbyist association for keepers and breeders of Egg-laying tooth-carps, better known under their common names "Killies" or "Killifishes".
A major part of the species in this group are considered to be the "gems" amongst the aquarium-fishes, but unfortunately they are also very often erroneously thought to be aggressive, and unsuitable for general aquaria.
This is probably due to the word "Kill" that is part of their Common name.
To others the name "Killies" or "Killifishes" is synonymous to "annual fishes" and they think that none of these fishes can live for more than one season. This however, is also an error as most of the Killi-species known up to this day are non-annual and semi-annual species, that have the ability to live for several years when kept under proper conditions. Only true annual species have a shorter life-expectancy that, depending on the species, can be somewhere between a few months, up to just over one year (in average).

The Dutch version of these pages are much more extended, but in the near future we hope to show you something about the sometimes remarkable way of life, behavior, and breeding of Killifishes, as well as about the various activities that KilliFish Nederland as an association has to offer, on the English pages too.

Our pages are still under construction.
They are best viewed at a screen resolution of 1024x768 pixels.
